Wage War for Libyans,

The young pan Africanist said with a unanimous voice,and called on the african union to unite more than ever and pull up thier military might and intervine in the libyan conflict,a conflict that amid president zuma`s visit saw more raid on Libya as if Saif al-Adel was visiting.In as much as we would like to intervene in these condlict our track record in democracy and transparency is not reliable,and Libya being part of the Arab league our power as black African is limited and many attimes we are reminded of pressing conflicts in Africa by which our force could serve better use,conflicts such as those in Congo,Uganda,Sudan and now Somalia where we have seen a seemingly ineffective AU peace keeping force much of its drowsiness resulting from a range of factors such as lack of military hardware,lack of contribution by member states,untrained personel,indispline e.t.c.All these factors emanate from a well established status of africa namely poverty.So does this mean that african countries armies are incompetent of fighting in self defence if attacked by another state?,A good example where this was demonstrated was that of Uganda-Tanzania during general Al-Hajj Idi Amin Dada in 1978 that resulted in the diposition of one of the pan africanist initiators,this act of self defence is a sure reason why every single country in the world has an army.One of the aims of AU is "to promote peace, security, and stability on the continent"which entails that appropriate action can be taken by the assembly to meet this goal.On the other hand NATO having been formed with a cold war aim of waging war against the soviet union,its objectives have not changed much,such like "an attack on one member state means an attack on all NATO states" i wonder if such was the african union slogans eventhough we do not have a common enemy.
The calls by  youth Pan Africanist for a demonstration this saturday in disgust of the continual bombing game in Libya raises much excitment in the veins of a pan africanist,me obviously hardly not included,.Libya especially has been a testing ground for the african Union,and its silence for the uprising in Tunisia and Egypt has clouded the Union`s efforts to mediate in the Libyan conflict and the recent shaking of the Libyan capital in the presidential presence of one of the powerfull nations on the african continent does not only undermines our power (AU) but it is a demonstration of thier power (NATO) and our weakness.
Egypt is not Libya,If it happened in Egypt does not mean it will hapen in the same way in Libya,Yemen is another mouth watering case study so is Syria Bharain,Qator and Saudi Arabia all have failed to depose their encumbent dictators.If the west want to see democracy in action in africa they should look at South Africa,Nigeria,Uganda,Rwanda  and the ivory coast whose unity has led to the transition to democracy that has unfolded in the eyes of the world.

“The week that was” from the visiting Chinese and African young leaders to acquitted charges on a suspect  accused of raping and killing a school girl and doomsday alarm, too much to fit on this site.

Politics and Economics: China and Africa in general and Namibia in particular share common goals and interests no doubt about that and I would wish the mutual partnership we share is a win-win thingy, and I wish Africa would take this opportunity and rise from Tokoloshi and build our own Mitsubishi., which brings to mind a joke I shared with some mates that only if we could discover a Chinese shipwreck then you would see a Chinese built city in Namibia.

As one Indian business mogul put it: “Africa is more like what India used to be in terms of development, give the people education and the technical know-how and you will see things happen “,but unfortunately Africans in the western world are known to be a long way off from stone age, a demeaning perception indeed.  On my recent trip to France I was impressed by the creativity of some unemployed African immigrants in Paris  and wished they would use that creativity in their respective countries.., a blooming young generation of African graduates can  show the world that if Albert Einstein can do it i also can do it and nothing is impossible.

So this was how my Sunday was, as I woke up the first thing that came to my mind was;is my housemate raptured? He for the last three years has devoted his precious free time spreading the May 21 Judgement day Saga, something as a Christian myself failed to convince him from, thanks to his daily listening devotions to family radio. I only feel a little pity for families out there who quit their jobs and spent their only pensions spreading the apocalyptic doomsday, on a humorous note apparently Mr Camping himself was nowhere to be seen on doomsday, while his follower were lamenting on their failure to understand why their heavenly flight scheduled on Saturday was cancelled without notice, too bad i only wish they pullback their lives together.

 People can go to unimaginable length with belief, as long as “God say so” it is so, but the question here should be on the evidence, religion is sacred in its own right and everyone has the right to practice whatever they choose to, but it is high time people start making sense of what they believe in, perhaps archaeologist can help with this?

Monday.

So I woke up this morning feeling like “woo hoo” another day.. .alive on planet earth, and so was the beginning of a Monday with its blues which is why one would wish to be in the heavenly gates.

Work today was fantastic thanks to a tastic rice meal i had the night before otherwise i would have been a toast. For those of you who don’t really know the environment I work in, it is a humble desert with precious stones on every side, sound like paradise?   the security in this   400 kilometre fenced coastline is as tight as area 51 in the US as some have described it , except the secret treasure under guide is a Diamond, a precious stone everyone know about and without this would we have seen Prince William give Ms Middleton a hand in marriage?

So as “Chaile” time arrived I couldn’t wait to get back home i was a little bit tired and i needed a rest, but exiting the mining area is where the music start, as you would imagine the security in a diamond mining area, for me going through this every day for the past five month has made it a usual thing to do every day, however today was a bit different. Firstly for the first time i was reintroduced in the X-ray scanning machines (that make sure you don’t go through with a diamond) and I was rescanned three times and searched twice, apparently it was my boxer short knotted waist strings that appeared like a knotted diamond  in the monitor,after close to an hour i was free, so tired that it was with an effort to start a car.

The scandolous biblical interpretation and archaeology,a clash of the know.

Nearly everyone who read news on this planet heard about the "crazy" calls by one of the revered apocalyptic cult leaders in the world,
Harald camping at the close of his campaign had quiet a number of followers,almost in every country thanks to a hard fought media campaign which from what i heard costed millions,evnthough critics of the figure and his associate claim he wanted to make profit from his followers,whatever the  motive is i am not in a position to make my opinion known let alone i be aacused of judging.."Mortal man who are you to enter unto the affairs of God"?,Lucifer tried it in heaven which is the reason why he was cast down to earth,the bible stress on the point that not even Jesus Himself knows the hour of his coming.As im writting this blog the local time is 00:38 meaning it is sunday morning-a day according to Camping and his Camp was not meant to be,an embarassment and a great disapointment to millions of his follower indeed i hope a great lesson will be learned from the failed rapture and a serious scripture search chapter by chapter will be the way into the future.

Never the less there is something to be learned in this disapointment,on how we calculate! in how we come up with dates and the evidence we use for interpretation,as archaeologist dating is one of the most important tasks when encountered with uncertainity about the date of a particular artefact/finding,sceince has made advancement in this aspect and our life easier,whereas methods  such as carbon dating has surfaced,nevertheless this does not give the actual year or time a particular artefact was made but gives an aproximation,As archaeologist the Camping discampment should be a reminder on  how we should be watchfull when approximating the dateof  an archaeological finding/site.Namibia being one of the countries in the world with the oldest archaeological sites some dating to millions of years back to Jurassic time,and down  to the european contact period,as a result we are faced with this dillemma wheares relative/scientific dating methods are the only means.
